May/17/2008 BEACH TO BAY RELAY MARATHON
What is the Beach to Bay Relay Marathon?
The Beach to Bay Relay Marathon is an annual relay running event held in Corpus Christi, Texas on the third Saturday in May.
Why the third Saturday in May you ask?
The third Saturday in May is Armed Forces Day. Back in 1976, the very first Beach to Bay Relay Marathon was held on Armed Forces Day to honor all men and women serving in the United States of America’s Military.
This year’s 33rd Running of the Beach to Bay Relay Marathon will be held on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17th, 2008. The race begins promptly at 7:00 am at Nueces County Park on the beach just south of Bob Hall Pier adjacent to Gulf Beach Access Road 6.
The Beach to Bay Relay Marathon is a 26.2 point-to-point relay route beginning on North Padre Island, winding through Naval Air Station Corpus Christi and ending at Cole Park along Corpus Christi’s scenic downtown. The course is divided into six legs of approximately 4.4 miles. The first leg and second legs are run on the beach and the remaining legs are run of pavement.

Aug/24/2008 Run for the Fallen
Run, wherever you are, one mile for a fallen service member. It is on this day that we run together in honor of all service members killed from both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Our goal is to have runners from all fifty states remembering our service members. Share with us your mileage and, if you run in honor of a particular service member, his or her name. We’ll be posting America’s combined mileage here and on the website as a reflection of remembrance for our beloved heroes.
