... when the running craze first started? The Country Roads 10K is one of those races. That’s right... “We don’t need no stinking chip timing!” Just a challenging course in a closed-in, country-like subdivision; a great T-shirt; tear-tag scoring; a swimming pool for a post-race dip and some nice door prizes in addition to the trophies. And it’s all managed by experienced volunteers from the San Marcos Runners Club; a race put on by runners for everyone. Submitted by: kathy

| | Additional info: | The 10K race is on a gently rolling, certified course located entirely within the scenic Country Estates subdivision. Runners will be challenged by the last 1 1/2 miles of the course, which is a constant, slight-but-steady upgrade. You may occasionally see the local deer population, also out for their morning run. The course for the Kids Run is a loop of 0.86 miles. The 10K will start promptly at 8:00 a.m.; the Kids Run will start at 9:00 a.m., while the 10K is finishing. |

The SMRC organizes and manages race events at no charge for many local nonprofit organizations in their fundraising efforts, and uses these proceeds to cover the expenses involved; so your donation ultimately benefits those groups.
